Diabetes Education

Birmingham Community Healthcare offers a range of  education programmes to help people diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes manage the symptoms and adapt their lifestyle to reduce causes of diabetes.

The programmes can be adapted particularly for people of South Asian descent and delivered in community settings in English, Punjabi, Urdu, Gujarati or Bengali, as required.

 

  • The X-PERT Programme aims to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence in participants to enable them to make informed decisions regarding lifestyle and diabetes management.

 

Participants may choose to be accompanied by a family member or friend.

Who is it for?

The courses are for people of South Asian descent, living in Birmingham, and who are newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

The sessions can be delivered in English or in Punjabi, Urdu, Gujarati and Bengali for people whose first language is not English.

Who delivers it?

The sessions are led by health professionals trained to ensure that people with diabetes are provided with up to date, evidence based information about the causes, effects and options for managing the condition.
