Falls Prevention

This is a specialist service to reduce the volume and severity of injuries among elderly people as a result of falls.

Community Falls Prevention is provided in East and North Birmingham and Central and West Birmingham. In South Birmingham locality, falls prevention is provided as part of Assessment and Treatment Services at Moseley Hall Hospital.

Who is it for?

The service is available for elderly residents of Birmingham who have fallen or are fearful that they may be at risk of falling.

Who provides it?

The East and North service is provided by a team of nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists offering specialist assessment, treatment and support at the homes of service users.

For patients with a HoB GP a comprehensive assessment is carried out by a team of nurses who will then refer for medical, physiotherapy and occupational therapy assessment and treatment as needed.
