West Mids AAC care pathway special interest group (SIG)

The WM AAC care pathway Special Interest Group (SIG) was formed in 2006 to raise awareness of the care pathway.

The SIG supports professionals across the region in their AAC development and networking. It meets 3 times/year in venues around the region. Meetings usually run from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

The SIG is registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and has links to the West Midlands SLT managers’ forum.

Meetings are informal and are organised by an elected committee. The meetings include presentations, case studies, news slots updates from manufacturers and suppliers, plus work to keep the care pathway updated and live.

Information about forthcoming meetings will be added to the website. ACT can also usually provide information about the next intended date and venue.

The next date will be Thursday, 22 March, 2012 at the following location:

Drama Studio
Severndale Specialist School
Monkmoor Campus,
Woodcote Way,
Monkmoor
Shrewsbury
SY2 5SH
tel: 01743 281 600

The theme will be adults and AAC and the session will include presentations of spelling base high-tech AAC and about research in AAC and also a chance to take part in a focus group.

To book please email Chris Sherlock, SIG secretary chris.sherlock@bhamcommunity.nhs.uk.
