On yer bike, Michelle!

One BCHC physiotherapist is cycling hundreds of miles to raise smiles this summer.

Keen cyclist Michelle Baylis, professional clinical lead for paediatric physiotherapy, is taking on a double challenge to raise funds for the Trust's children and families services.

In July, Michelle is cycling 250 miles from London to Paris, accompanied by friend and former BCHC colleague Cheryl Newton.

The determined duo will then take on the 100-mile Velo Birmingham cycle challenge in September, joined by ten other BCHC staff and supporters, to raise funds for the BCHC charity.

Michelle said: “Collectively we have worked in the NHS for 50 years, during which time we have had the privilege of working with many fabulous children and their families. Many families we work with experience challenging times with on-going physical and mental health issues and we’d like to do more to support them.”

We hope to raise at least £500 for the division but would love to raise a lot more. We would like to fund toys and games for therapists to use with children in treatment sessions and assessments. Waiting areas also need little extras too like notice boards about our services for families, we'd also like to fund specific assessment kits or training for staff to improve the services for the children.”
