Selly Oak cycle path - dental hospital access

Work on the ongoing extension of the cycle route between Selly Oak and the city centre is to begin next week (13 August) in the area around the junction of Pebble Mill Road and the A38 Bristol Road - close to Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry.

The scheme will see the creation of a 4km two-way, fully segregated cycle route including a dedicated track in the central reservation on Bristol Road.

Work at the junction of Pebble Mill Road is scheduled to last three months (due to re-open in November) and will mean that it will no longer be possible to turn right from Pebble Mill Road on to the Bristol Road heading towards the city centre nor right from Bristol Road into Pebble Mill Road.

Right-turn access into Mill Pool Way (the 'top' entrance to the Pebble Mill site) and the ability to turn right out of Mill Pool Way on to Bristol Road is to be restored - the 'cut-through' in the central reservations, recently closed, is to be re-opened ahead of the works described above.

Additionally, some parking bays in Pebble Mill Road will be suspended and traffic lane restrictions will be in place on Bristol Road from 9.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday in both directions.
