Welcome to the web pages for nutrition and dietetic services across Birmingham where you can access a range of free services including adult and child weight management clinics, nutrition support and enteral feeding, specialist diabetes, family support, school sessions and healthy eating promotion.
Who can use the service?
The service is provided for the benefit of children and adult residents in Birmingham.
Unfortunately, there has been a significant reduction in the allocation of funding for Public Health from 2016 onwards which has affected some of our services. As a result of these cuts, with effect from 15 th June, Birmingham Community Nutrition will no longer be able to accept:
- Referrals for weight management for adults;
- Referrals for children for appointment with a dietitian for childhood obesity;
- Referrals from health visitors and school nurses to see children for faltering growth.
The weight management group courses for children and families are currently under discussion.
Those currently in our service for the above will be discharged after 30th of September 2016. We are sorry that we are no longer able to offer these services. However you may find the following sources of information useful:
If you have any comments or queries regarding this change, we advise you email firstname.lastname@example.org or you can write to Birmingham Lifestyles, PO Box 16732, Birmingham B2 2GF.
A community–based dietitian service is still in place, and we would encourage you to view our referrals tab for up to date information for the services we provide.
Who delivers it?
This is a citywide service provided in GP surgeries, health centres, residential care facilities, patients’ own homes, community hospitals and community venues.
Appointments are coordinated through the service based at:
- St Patrick's Centre for Community Health
