Assessment and TreatmentA multidisciplinary outpatient service for the assessment and treatment of older people on an outpatient basis. Adults and Community Division
Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) NursingOffers support and training to children, families and education staff relating to the management of ADHD, mainly within North East Birmingham and follows up children who attend ADHD clinics at Heartlands Hospital. Children and Families Division
Birmingham Community Assessment and Treatment Service (BCATS)A specialist team offering inpatient assessment, day assessment and outreach for people with learning disabilities who may require assessment and treatment in the community. Learning Disability Service
Birmingham Neurological Rehabilitation TeamProvides a short-term community based rehabilitation programme for adults with neurological problems, working towards community re-integration (e.g. accessing leisure/ education facilities). Rehabilitation Service
Brain Injury Specialist Clinic (BISC)Provides assessment and advice for adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI) including strokes and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Rehabilitation Service
Carers Supportoffers a wide range of services aimed at providing on-going support and advice to carers in order to help them cope with the stress of caring for someone on an ongoing basis.Nursing and Therapies
Child Development CentresFive centres based in communities across South Birmingham offering specialist services and support for disabled children, carers and special schools. Children and Families Division
Child Protection Nurse AdvisorsProvides training and clinical supervision on all aspects of child protection for staff working in Birmingham Primary Care Trusts, and when requested, staff from other trusts. Children and Families Division
Child Respite CareThe respite care unit at Edgewood Road provides respite nursing care for children and young adults aged from five to 18 years with chronic illness or disability.Children and Families Division
CHILDREN AND FAMILIES DIVISIONThis division brings together all the specialist community services for youngsters across Birmingham, offering a co-ordinated approach to child healthcare. Children and Families Division
Chronic Kidney DiseaseThe service provides management of chronic kidney disease (CKD) where kidney function is moderately or severely reduced. Services offered include patient and professional education. Adults & Community Division
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an umbrella term for a collection of lung diseases such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic asthma. The service offers screening clinics to help aid diagnosis and review patients with COPD.Adults & Community Division

Community Nursing ServicesProvides a specialist therapeutic nursing service to adults with learning disabilities who have additional complex health needs. Learning Disability Service
Community Older Adults Nursing ServicesProvide a specialist therapeutic older adults nursing service to adults aged 50 years plus or younger adults with a diagnosis of dementia) with learning disabilities who have additional complex health needs. Learning Disability Service
Community PaediatricsA team of doctors specialising in child health and offering high quality services centred on the child and family. Children and Families Division
Complex Careprovides a citywide nursing service to adults and children in their own home. The service provided may range from a one-hour visit to 24-hour care.Adults and Community Division

Dental HospitalThe Dental Hospital provides a unique range of dental services for the people of West Midlands and beyond. It is an integral part of the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry and supports undergraduate and postgraduate dental education. Specialist Services

Dental Services in the communityThe combined community dental service provides a range of specialist dental services in Birmingham, Sandwell, Dudley and Walsall.Specialist Services
Diabetes educationThe nationally-successful DESMOND diabetes education programme has been specially adapted for people of South Asian descent or origin, a high risk group. Translation services are available in Bengali, Punjabi, Urdu and Gujarati.Adults & Community Division

District NursingThis service provides round-the-clock nursing care to a wide range of patients in domiciliary settings, 365 days a year. Adults and Community
Edgewood Road Respite ServiceThe Respite Care Unit at Edgewood Road provides respite nursing care for children aged five to 18 with chronic illness or disability. In addition, we provide day care for pre-school children with similar needs. It is the only NHS unit in Birmingham which caters for children with health needs. Children and Families division
Falls PreventionA specialist service to reduce the volume and severity of injuries among elderly people as a result of falls. Adults & Community
