Birmingham Community Healthcare is pleased to announce the appointment of a Non-Executive Director and Non-Executive Director Designate to its Board of Directors.
Jerry Gould joined the board on 1July, 2012 as a Non-Executive Director, while Dr Jagdeesh Singh Dhaliwal joined on 13 June, 2012 as a Non-Executive Director designate.
Although this Designate role is a non-voting post, his background as a General Practitioner will benefit the board in bringing additional clinical skills and knowledge.
Trust Chairman Tom Storrow said: “I’m delighted to welcome Jerry and Jagdeesh to the Board at this important time in the development of our organisation.
"They each bring a wealth of experience which will be of great benefit to our aim of developing an organisation able to rise to the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapidly evolving landscape of the health economy.”
The appointments have been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ Code of Practice; Jerry Gould is appointed until 30th June 2015 and Jagdeesh Singh is appointed until such time that the Trust achieves Foundation Trust status and can be fully appointed to the Trust Board.
All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public.

Jerry joined the board in July 2012 following careers in local government and subsequently as a partner at Deloitte. He has extensive experience in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of public sector service through the adoption of alternative delivery models and in the procurement of major services and infrastructure contracts, including using PFI and similar arrangements.

Jagdeesh is an experienced GP specialising in frequent-attender patients. He is a senior medical educator, with extensive experience in developing and delivering leadership, management and medical professionalism courses. He is a GP clinical lead with the NHS Institute, where he played a key role in the development of the Institute’s nationally-prominent Productive General Programme.
