Moseley Hall Hospital Ward 7 Trauma and Orthopaedic Unit

Introduction

Ward 7 Moseley Hall Hospital provides a specialist rehabilitation service for Older Adults who have had recent Orthopaedic surgery.

Who is it for?

This surgery may be following a broken bone due to a fall or trauma or it may be planned ‘Elective’ surgery, such as a total hip or knee replacement.

Referrals are received from other hospitals such as the Queen Elizabeth or the Royal Orthopaedic, and patients must have stated rehab goals, with the potential to improve.

What do we do?

The ward provides a safe, clean and friendly environment and our team of Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists work with patients to help them reach their full potential, so together we make every effort to promote independence wherever possible.

Whilst on the ward, patients remain under the care of a medical consultant who visits weekly and the orthopaedic surgeons from the referring hospital, review patients regularly post-operatively.

Information for visitors

•Visiting times: to encourage excellent nutrition and hydration we offer protected meal times for our patients, so we therefore request that visiting times are between 2-4, and 6.30-8 to avoid lunch and tea time.

•Support for carers: Our friendly staff will be happy to offer advice and support to carers throughout the patients stay and any extra help that may be needed for discharge, will be organised before the patient leaves hospital.
