Orthopaedic Triage Service

Overview

The Orthopaedic Triage service was set up for the management of musculoskeletal conditions giving rise to spinal (cervical, thoracic and lumbar), knee, shoulder, hands, foot and ankle symptoms.

The Orthopaedic Triage Service (OTS) is a ‘one-stop-service’ for all patients with musculoskeletal (MSK) problems. The term ‘musculoskeletal’ relates to:

  • Bones
  • Joints
  • Soft Tissues
  • Muscles
  • Ligaments

The service has clinicians to assess, diagnose and manage your condition at health centre’s in the local community.The aim of this service is to ensure patients with musculoskeletal conditions are seen by the right clinician at the right time to facilitate a timely recovery.

For patients registered with a South Birmingham GP: 0121 466 6177 or 0121 466 6178

For patients registered with an East or North Birmingham GP:
0121 465 2660 or 0121 465 2661.

Referrals are accepted from GPs via 'Choose and Book' or by faxed referral 0121 465 2664.

Please inform us if you need an interpreter as soon as possible.

Appointments can be difficult to re-arrange, so it is important that you notify us if you are unable to attend any appointments.

Failure to inform the service of cancellations will result in discharge for non-attendance in line with trust Policy.
