BCHC chair to retire in May

Tom Storrow has announced that he will be retiring from his role as chair of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust at the end of May 2019.

Tom said: “I have decided, for reasons of family health, and especially my wife’s current health issues, to bring forward my retirement plans by a few months and leave the role at the end of May.

"Now is the right time for me to ‘pass on the baton’, and I am pleased that I can give the trust six months’ notice to enable a thorough process to appoint a successor and ensure a smooth handover.

“I have been hugely honoured to serve as chair of this organisation for more than seven years, and together with so many people around me, help create a trust with such a strong track record of performance.

"I have enjoyed this wonderful opportunity to work with so many fantastic, dedicated colleagues, who make such a positive impact on the lives of the people and communities we serve.

“There are many people to thank, of course, and I will be addressing that as we move closer to next May.

"In the meantime I will be continuing to focus, with ‘business as usual’, on the key matters currently facing the board, management and council of governors.”

The process for appointing a new chair will get underway early in 2019. Tom’s retirement relates to both the BCHC board and the council of governors.
