Better Care

More patients benefit from our charity in 2017

2017 has been an absolutely stellar year for the BCHC Charity, ending on a high with some festive fundraisers.

Since being an active charity £89,000 has been raised and spent on making a difference for patients, their carers and the staff who support them. This year has also seen the expansion of the charity team, increased support from local businesses and most importantly more funds raised to provide the much-needed extras for patients.

Charity manager Sarah Binks said: "We want to say an enormous thank you to everyone that has supported us, from taking on challenges, donating in thanks and more recently donating sparkle parcel items and getting involved in 'Festive Friday', we really could not this without your help."

Our first ever Winter Wonderland Ball, which took place on Saturday, 25 November, was the culmination of months of hard work by Lisa Miles and Kelly Heath from the Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.  Attendees were treated to a three course meal and top class entertainment from ‘The Distractions’, Bliss photobooth and decorations by CM events. All whilst raising over £3,000 in aid of Moseley Hall Hospital’s Ward 9 Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.

As part of our pledge to enhance the experiences of those within our care, patients and staff across Birmingham have been treated to some tremendous trickery from magician David Oakley, as well as marvellous music therapy sessions from Louise Braithwaite and arts and crafts activity sessions with our brilliant University of Birmingham volunteers.

Our Festive Friday campaign went particularly well this year (see photo gallery above) raising over £400 across the Trust via cake sales, tombolas, raffles, and of course, sporting your seasonal outfits! This money has helped us to provide 500 gifts for patients across Birmingham, as well as decorations, foods and entertainment for ward parties, all of which helped to make Christmas 2017 ‘extra’ special for our patients.

We have some exciting events planned for 2018, download the poster for more info and get in touch with the charity team at and 0121 466 7314

Thank you so much for all your support over the past year; we’ll see you in 2018 for more fundraisers, events, and, most importantly, fun!
