Model Danielle Lloyd visited Allens Croft Children’s Centre in Kings Heath to officially open a day of fun-filled activities to raise awareness of disability and the support available for parents and carers.

Accompanied by sons, 20-month-old Archie and eight-month-old Harry, the 28-year-old kicked off proceedings in style as she launched a spectacular balloon race before chatting to children and staff during a tour of the centre.

Alongside the serious messages, fun features of the day included local students in fancy dress and a joint art project with pupils from Calthorpe School in Highgate.

Danielle said: “Like any mum, my kids’ health and happiness is my number one priority. When Harry was born premature and had to spend five weeks in a special unit, I understood like never before how much mums and dads depend on the dedication and expertise of healthcare professionals.

“That’s why I was so pleased to be invited to the disability awareness day at Allens Croft Children’s Centre and meet the children and the brilliant professionals in healthcare and education working so hard together to give the kids a great start in life.”

Child development nursery nurse Clare Hulbert-Moore said: “We’re very grateful to Danielle for giving up her time to support us.

“The children really enjoyed the whole occasion and, with the help of many of our valued partners, we were able to offer a real insight into the wide range of support available for children and families living with disabilities.”

Allens Croft Children’s Centre operates in partnership between Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust and Birmingham City Council’s children, young people and families division, providing integrated health and education services for children from the surrounding areas.

Danielle Lloyd became the latest local celebrity to sign up as a public member of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust as part of preparations to become a Foundation Trust.
