Chance to shape the future of Birmingham Community Healthcare

The Foundation Trust consultation will help shape the future of BCHC.

Members of the public, key partner organisations and other interested parties have the chance to shape the future of one of the largest providers of community health services as a consultation on Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust’s (BCHC) plans to become authorised as a Foundation Trust began on 12 September.

The 12-week period of consultation will enable all interested parties to register their views about the way the organisation proposes to structure itself as a Foundation Trust.

BCHC would welcome the views of the wider community including patients, relatives, carers, health economy stakeholders and partner organisations. Of particular interest are views about the proposed constitution and the way the Trust intends to use its membership.  These views will be used to help BCHC create an organisation that is truly representative of the communities it serves.

Chief executive Tracy Taylor said: “We will use the views and ideas that people give us to make changes to our plans so that we will be structured in a way that assures our communities and stakeholders that we are well governed and locally accountable.”

A summary of views received and the changes the Trust intends to implement in response will be given to the Secretary of State for Health and will be considered as part of BCHC’s Foundation Trust application.
