Birmingham Community Healthcare's quality of clinical care and leadership has earned national recognition after the Trust was declared among the finalists in no fewer than four categories in the prestigious HSJ Awards 2014.

BCHC CEO Tracy Taylor is shortlisted for 'chief executive of the year' while head of safeguarding children Clare Edwards is among finalists for 'clinical leader of the year'.

The recognition follows Clare's earlier shortlisting in the category 'nurse leader of the year' in the annual Nursing Times Awards

Our children's palliative care team has been shortlisted in the category 'compassionate patient care' while our groundbreaking Healthy Villages initiative is among the finalists in the category 'improved partnerships between health and local government'.

Awards organisers received a record 1,305 entries from 513 organisations, 204 of which made the shortlist.

Chairman Tom Storrow said: "Our aim is to provide first class clinical services and leadership so it is very pleasing to earn this national recognition.

"Now we look forward with optimism to presentation night in the hope that we can bring at least one of these coveted awards back to Birmingham."
