BCHC bidding for HSJ hat-trick!

BCHC is proud to announce that the Trust has been shortlisted three times in the prestigious HSJ Awards 2016.

The three BCHC nominations to have been chosen out of thousands of submissions from all over the country are:

HSJ Awards 2016
  • An outstanding example of a district nurse going the extra mile for a seriously ill patient. In what turned out to be the last week of his life, Jess Horabin contacted a Birmingham multiplex and arranged for this patient to have a private screening of the newly released James Bond blockbuster Sceptre - 'red carpet treatment' that has impressed judges in the 'compassionate patient care' category.
  • The Care in Focus project, in which community nursing teams took part in a major exercise to free up additional time for patient care by reducing clinical paperwork, increasing administration support and introducing an electronic patient allocation system. This initiative is shortlisted in the 'workforce' category.
  • Tracy Taylor for the title of chief executive of the year, the second year in which our CEO has been nominated for this prestigious accolade.

Tracy said: “We are delighted to have again been shortlisted in the HSJ Awards and to be a finalist in three categories is welcome recognition of our strength in many areas.

“Our Trust has a proven track record of delivering innovative service models which support our dedicated staff in delivering compassionate care of the highest quality.

"It's a privilege personally to have been shortlisted for CEO of the Year however leadership is a team effort in BCHC and therefore this is also a credit to all the leaders and staff at every level across the organisation."

BCHC is also shortlisted in the Nursing Times Awards - the Baby Check app launched by our health visiting service in partnership with the Lullaby Trust is a finalist in the technology and data in nursing category.
