Dementia friendly unit project team shortlisted for national award

Willow House

BCHC estates team colleagues who led the project to create a new dementia friendly unit at West Heath Hospital have been shortlisted in the national Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) Awards.

Estates manager for community hospitals and community premises Mike Kennedy nominated colleagues for the 'project team' award, which recognises successful delivery of a new build or a refurbishment.

The nomination is in recognition of excellent partnership work with designers One Creative Environments and public-private health and social care infrastructure investment agency BaS LIFT.

The new unit incorporates some of the latest principles in dementia-friendly design to provide a modern, rehabilitative environment for up to 18 older patients.

The winners will be announced during the annual IHEEM Healthcare Estates conference in Manchester on 7 and 8 October.
