Better Care

Festive fun and magical memories? Your wish is granted!

A special group of children in our care had a touch of sparkle added to their Christmas, when they were invited to watch Cinderella at Birmingham Hippodrome, thanks to charity donations.

16 families under the care of the community children’s nursing and palliative care team ‘had a ball’ at the Christmas panto, entertained by an all-star cast including Beverley Knight, Danny Mac and Matt Slack.

Support worker Nussrat Parveen, who helped to organise this special event, said:  We offer clinical and holistic support to children and young people across the city, which includes 24/7 support to children receiving end-of-life care.

“Much of the work undertaken by the team is about improving quality of life and making memories for the families. Part of this is to arrange wishes for the families who are thought to be in the last months of their life.

“We’re so grateful to the BCHC charity and the charity Rays of Sunshine for all their support in making this possible. All the families really enjoyed the day."
