Help to quit smoking in Ramadan

A drive to help members of Birmingham's Muslim community quit smoking has been launched in mosques throughout the city during the holy month of Ramadan.

Birmingham stop smoking team is distributing posters and information cards to mosques throughout the city while stop smoking advisors will visit the busier places of worship to give face-to-face advice and support.

Additionally, a drop-in clinic will be held at the Kurdish Mosque in the Soho City Shopping Centre, Handsworth every Friday until the end of Ramadan on 10 July 2015 between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Birmingham stop smoking service operations manager Jamila Hussain said: "The month of Ramadan is an ideal opportunity to raise the profile of the stop smoking service.

"Those that fast are not allowed to smoke between the hours of sunrise and sunset and therefore many people use this time of year as an opportunity to stop smoking."
