Raman Kaur, speech and language therapist student coordinator and Stephanie Reynolds, professional development facilitator are runners-up in Inspiring the workforce of the future NHS Employers Award.

To ensure that training on student placements is fit for purpose and meets patient’s needs, the team found they needed to better prepare students and support the bridge between academic study at university and the clinical environment before and during placement in order to encourage and enhance professional values and behaviour.

A web-based learning package was created for students as an induction to the Trust called the Student Hub.   This was designed to be appealing to students, providing a means of support, with interactive features and resources. The content includes a library portal, interactive polls, pod casts and recorded interviews from service users who discuss what quality care means to them.

Thought to be the first of its kind in the country, the hub is intended to support students and give them the option for independent learning. Congratulations to everyone involved.
