Paediatric Occupational Therapy

Advice Line

Paediatric occupational therapists support children and young people to carry out activities they need, want, or are expected to do, but are prevented from doing due to impairments, injuries or developmental conditions.

The Paediatric Occupational Therapy Advice Line is part of our universal offer, which supports with giving early help to families and professionals working with the child.

 

This service can be accessed without a referral or for those families already open to our service. Families and professionals will be able to discuss any specific difficulties with a Senior Occupational Therapist. The Therapist will be able to provide practical advice, strategies and support in relation to a child’s independence skills within every day activities.

 

The advice line is available Monday to Friday, from 09.00 to 16.00 hours, for children aged 0 - 18 years (up to 19 years if in full time special school education) and registered with a Birmingham GP.

The advice line is now able to offer an interpreting service for families. If English isn't your first language and you would like to speak directly with an Occupational Therapist, for support, please use the instructions below.

How to contact the Occupational Therapy Advice Line using an interpreter:

1. Please dial 0121 516 3388
2. Enter your language code (for example 310 for Urdu): after you enter the language code, you will be connected with an interpreter. Tell the interpreter your name and the reason for calling.
3. You will be connected to an interpreter: once you are connected to the interpreter, you will then automatically be routed to a member of our team.
4. The call will be directed to the Occupational Therapy Advice line. If there is no answer and the call goes to voicemail, please ask the interpreter to leave your full details, including your child's name and date of birth, along with the language that the family requires.
