What is Children's Occupational Therapy?

The Children’s Occupational Therapy Service is working actively with Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (Health Commissioners of the service) and the Local Authority on long-term solutions to reduce waiting times so that children can access support in a reasonable timescale.

We have redesigned the service model to include a new telephone advice line, which allows families and professionals to easily access support and advice from a registered Occupational Therapist regarding a child’s needs. The telephone number for the advice line is: 0121 683 2325  (see link above for more details).

The longest wait at the end of January 2020 from referral to start of treatment was 81 weeks. The service is on track to reduce this to 64 weeks by the end of February 2020.
