West Midlands Paediatric Sexual Assault Service (WMPSAS)

The West Midlands Paediatric Sexual Assault Service (PSAS) provides a 24/7 'one-stop' open service to anyone up to the age of 17 who has been the victim of rape, sexual violence and/or sexual abuse.

The service was sometimes previously referred to as SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Centre).

We work with G4S Health and the Rape Crisis Centre Consortium (comprising West Mercia Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Centre, Coventry Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre) to deliver the service.

The service covers the Staffordshire, West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire police force areas.  Victims of recent sexual abuse will usually be seen by the on call team at our Horizon Centre, Ida Road - Walsall.  For historic cases children and young people will be seen at one of other centres:

We often hear two acronyms with the current service - either PSAS or WMPSAS.

"We had a difficult case at the children's hospital this week and I had to contact PSAS service for advice and support. Just wanted to let you know that everyone was really helpful including the call centre staff and the consultants involved. The case required late conversations to make the right decision and I know some of the team were providing support out of normal work hours, which was really helpful to me and much appreciated."
