Keeping tiny teeth healthy across the Midlands

Chompers, gnashers, pearly whites, teethy pegs, whatever you call them, teeth play an essential role in our lives, aiding our ability to eat, feel confident, or even speak.
Teaching our children from an early age about good oral hygiene is an important life skill that starts from the first tooth. Maintaining clean and healthy baby teeth sets the foundations for practicing good oral hygiene for the rest of our lives.
In a bid to support the wider community, our oral health improvement practitioners will be visiting 26 family hubs located across Birmingham and the Black Country, offering toothbrushing workshops that provide tips and tricks to ensure our little locals have healthier, stronger teeth.
Julie Smith, Oral Health Improvement Lead shares:
“We have been running our workshops for a few years now and it’s always great to see parents attending to learn about how they can improve their child’s oral health care.”
Child-focused toothbrushing workshops are taking place over the next few weeks to mark National Smile Month and raise awareness of the importance of baby teeth. Together, the team will distribute toothbrushes and toothpaste for the children attending the sessions, whilst providing parents with evidence-based information that can make toothbrush time easier and highlight the importance of brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
Helen Potter, Oral Health Improvement Practitioner was at a family hub in Dudley recently to deliver a workshop to families with children under three years of age.
Armed with fun props, Helen’s session went down well will the teething toddlers – some of whom had just started to sprout their first tooth!
Parents who attended were also able to ask questions to Helen, who reassured them and offered tips and health advice.
