As part of our ongoing commitments to become an anti-racist organisation, we have selected Inspiring Hope as the lead provider to deliver an anti-racism leadership development programme to 800 of our senior leaders.

Earlier this year the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team set out four key priorities for 2025/26, one of them was to commission an external partner with anti-racism expertise to deliver a bespoke anti-racism leadership development programme for 800 senior leaders.

Starting January next year (2026), senior leaders across all divisions will take part in the programme to further enable them to:

  • Understand how racism affects colleagues, patients and service users across Birmingham.
  • Strengthen their leadership confidence in addressing incidents and supporting staff.
  • Spot, challenge and prevent racial microaggressions.
  • Develop tools to reduce inequities in access, experience and outcomes.
  • Build teams grounded in compassion, respect and psychological safety.

Inspiring Hope is a specialist leadership, equity, and organisational development partner with deep roots in the NHS and several decades of combined expertise in tackling inequity, culture change, and transformational leadership. Led by an experienced Non-Executive Director and former clinician, Inspiring Hope brings a unique blend of strategic insight, lived experience, and nationally recognised excellence in anti-racism and inclusive leadership.
