New animation launched to boost annual health checks for young people with learning disabilities

Two people sitting face to face across a table

The Learning Disability and Autism Team within the Mental Health Provider Collaborative has launched a new animation designed to raise awareness of annual health checks among children and young people with learning disabilities.

This initiative responds to feedback from parents and carers, who highlighted the need for clearer information about the health check offer - available to anyone aged 14 and over who is registered with a GP and on the Learning Disability Register.

The animation provides answers to common questions and outlines what to expect before, during, and after an annual health check. Co-designed with healthcare professionals and young people with learning disabilities, it features the voices and experiences of two young people, sharing their personal journeys and insights.
