Back of the Net! Fundraising Goals for Learning Disability Service

On Thursday 14 July, the Learning Disability Service User Group (SUG) and BCHC Learning Disability staff will be taking on the challenge of scoring 50 penalties in 1 hour, with a goal of raising £1,000 for BCHC Charity to support this years’ Service User and Carer Awards.

The night, hosted at Midland Mencap, was a huge success, with attendees treated to delicious food, wonderful entertainment, and an atmosphere of celebration, inclusion, and respect. Care providers supporting service users stated, “This has really boosted their confidence and self-esteem which not only uplifted their spirit but also inspired them, their families, and others to pursue their dreams and make an impact contributing to the community.”

Building on last year's success, this year's penalty shoot-out aims to celebrate the achievements, talents, and contributions of individuals with learning disabilities, alongside the dedication of their carers, who play such an important role in their lives. By supporting this fundraiser, you're not just supporting a game, you're helping people feel seen, valued, and celebrated, while championing inclusion, confidence, and the strength of community.

The SUG meet monthly to share their ideas to help make the service better for everyone and raise awareness about important issues, ensuring that BCHC are delivering high quality, safe care to people with Learning Disabilities. It is important that the service user voice is heard and is at the heart of care and services provided, and the SUG is a huge part of achieving that goal.
