Connecting at Simmer Down Arts Festival

Simmer Down Festival

The Community Connexions team was delighted to attend the recent Simmer Down Arts Festival, which took place in Handsworth Park, Birmingham. The team, whose remit is to promote patient and public engagement to promote health and access to healthcare services, as well as tackle healthcare inequalities, set up stall to offer free health checks to all attending. Throughout the day, we worked in collaboration with West Midlands Police to deliver checks, which covered:

  • Diabetes
  • Blood pressure
  • BMI
  • Cancer awareness
  • Lifestyle counselling

 

 

 

Simmer Down is a leading UK reggae music and arts development agency, celebrates cultural diversity through artistic and cultural projects that support artist development, community engagement, and international collaborations. The highlight of their work is the annual Simmer Down Festival, one of the UK’s largest reggae music and arts festivals.
