Celebrating our apprentices
As part of our National Apprenticeship Week celebrations, we spoke with musculoskeletal physiotherapist Chris Ridley who began his apprenticeship journey back in 2021, after previously working as a physiotherapy assistant for over a decade.
Having wanted to become a MSK physiotherapist and being unable to do so due to financial reasons, an apprenticeship with BCHC was the perfect route to achieve his dream career. Through earning and learning, Chris was able to advance his knowledge and skills, while working across a variety of settings within the Trust. As he explains:
I am very grateful for the opportunity to have completed my apprenticeship with BCHC and achieve my goal of becoming a physiotherapist. I would 100% recommend this route to anyone wanting to achieve the same career goal. I felt supported by both BCHC and University College Birmingham throughout my apprenticeship, particularly by BCHC's professional lead for physiotherapy and my mentor.
