Looking back on a year of progress

Members of the public and partners were welcomed to our Trust Headquarters in Aston to meet our leadership team and many other colleagues at our annual general and members' meeting.

The event saw the formal publication of our Annual Report and Quality Report and delegates heard examples of the work we are doing to develop high quality services based on our essentials of care framework that prioritise the needs of each community we serve.

Key themes from our 2025/26 review

BCHC continues to develop a neighbourhood health model, working more closely with partners across communities through a growing network of integrated neighbourhood teams.

Opening the meeting, Trust Chair David Sallah paid tribute to BCHC staff for a year of steady progress despite many challenges and welcomed the opportunities presented by current Government policy in health and care.

Chief executive Richard Kirby added that it had been an important year for playing our part in delivering properly integrated care in neighbourhoods and localities. He thanked all our partners and BCHC colleagues for their hard work in delivering our Best Care, Healthy Communities vision as we develop a future operating medal reflecting the new approach to care better focussed on local need and equity of access to care.

Our plans are aligned to three big shifts set out in the 10 Year Health Plan.

  • treatment to prevention through more proactive, personalised care.
  • hospital to community by delivering more care closer to home through neighbourhood-based services and stronger integration between health and care partners.
  • analogue to digital by using innovation and technology to improve patient experience, outcomes and efficiency.

Looking ahead, the future development of BCHC, as a key partner in the Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care System, will see the development of service delivery designed to meet changing population needs, reduce health inequalities and support more people to receive care at home.
