Charity Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Charity collects, stores, uses and protects personal information that you provide to us and outlines your associated data protection rights.
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) Charity is the Data Controller for personal information processed, unless stated otherwise.
Who we are
BCHC Charity is an official charity registered with the Charity Commission under the Registered Charity Number 1069427 to raise and receive legacies and donations for Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Our fundraising is a way of providing 'extras' not funded as part of core NHS services. These are the things that will bring a smile to patients, to enhance their experience or improve their care with us, or it could be a piece of equipment, piece of research or a training course that will improve the care staff can provide.
Personal data we collect about you and how it is used
We collect and use your data for administrative purposes. These include, but are not limited to your:
- Name and contact details (such as postal address, email address, or telephone numbers) should you choose to sign up to our mailing list for more information about the charity, upcoming events, and the work we do - we will not contact you unless you consent to receiving our updates, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
We will not collect any health information, or information regarding gender, sexuality, ethnic origin, religion, age, ability, or any other protected characteristic. If you choose to volunteer with us, this data may be collected in order to ensure the volunteering offer is inclusive and equitable; please see the BCHC Charity Volunteer Privacy Notice for further details.
Regarding financial data, we do not store any credit card or banking details, these are held with our payment partners:
We have contracts with these payment partners that include security and data processing obligations. All our partners have their own privacy notices, which will tell you what information they collect, how they use it, and what to do if you have concerns. You can find these on their websites.
How long do we keep your information?
We will keep your contact details for as long as you are subscribed to our mailing list. You may request to unsubscribe at any time, by simply contacting us by email via bchc.charity@nhs.net to do so.
What measures do we take to protect your information?
We take our duty to protect your personal information and confidentiality seriously. We are committed to taking all reasonable measures to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal data for which we are responsible for.
We store all personal information on a dedicated, protected database.
Transfer of data outside the European Economic Area
We will not transfer your data outside the UK.
Your rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
- Your right of access: you have the right to request a copy of information we hold about you.
- Your right to rectification: you have the right to ask us to correct information that is factually incorrect, or to include anything that is missing.
