Five Key Principles

1. Promote high quality care through research, innovation and digital maturity

To support principle 1 AHPs will:

  • Use research and innovation to inform the delivery of safe, high-quality care.
  • Identify and embed appropriate clinical outcome measures.
  • Collect data in a digitally mature fashion.
  • Continue to develop research career pathway opportunities.

 

Objectives and actions

  1. AHPs will collect appropriate outcome measures in a digitally mature fashion.
  2. We will identify and embed digital tools in treatment pathways.
  3. AHP evidence-based practice, impact and visibility in Research will be enhanced and supported.

2. Enable workforce productivity, diverse leadership and skills development

To support principle 2 AHPs will:

  • Promote diverse leadership across our AHP community.
  • Support the ongoing development of our workforce.
  • Drive improvements in productivity.

 

Objectives and actions

We will:

  1. Support workforce planning of our registered and non-registered AHP workforce.
  2. Promote culturally diverse leadership across our AHP community.
  3. Increase the productivity of AHPs and provide assurance around AHP staffing levels.
  4. Embed the NHS 10 year plan within AHP workforce planning.

3. Reduce health inequalities and promote prevention

To support principle 3 AHPs will:

  • Engage with communities to deliver services that are accessible and inclusive.
  • Promote prevention and management of health concerns, and work with communities to best suit their population needs.

 

Objectives and actions

  1. AHPs will take a population health approach to deliver services that are accessible, inclusive and promote prevention and health equity.
  2. Our communities will experience improved access with a revised focus on prevention and early intervention.

4. Modernise AHP training and education to promote transformation and sustainability

To support principle 4 AHPs will:

Deliver services that are sustainable by:

  • Developing our future workforce by continuously improving AHP student placements.
  • Promoting AHP services and practices that minimise negative impacts on the environment.

 

Objectives and actions

  1. AHPs will deliver services that are sustainable, by developing the future workforce through excellent and robust student placements.
  2. AHPs will promote services and practices that minimise negative impacts on the environment.

5. Anti-racism and coproduction threaded throughout

To support this principle AHPs will:

  • Have an understanding of our role in anti-racism.
  • Coproduce service improvements alongside local communities.
  • Use co-production with learners and colleagues.
