ADHD

Understanding the Pathway

The NDP team assesses children and young people for neurodevelopmental disorders including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

ADHD assessment process

  1. ADHD referral submitted by education or a healthcare professional
  2. If the referral is accepted, we gather information from parents, carers and school by using standardised questionnaires.
  3. Once the information has been returned, a nurse will triage the information.
  4. As part of the assessment your child may be invited to a Quantitative Behavioural (QB) test, or be observed within school.
  5. An appointment with the ADHD team will be offered to determine if the criterea is met for an ADHD diagnosis or not:
    1. If ADHD is diagnosed, a plan of care will be discussed with you.
    2. If there is not evidence present to determine an ADHD diagnosis, your child will be discharged.
