Safe Staffing at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Safe staffing is essential to delivering high-quality care for our patients.
At BCHC, we are committed to ensuring safe and effective staffing across all our services with robust systems in place to monitor staffing levels, support recruitment and retention, and respond quickly to any gaps.
Safer staffing reports are submitted to the Trust Board on a monthly basis, providing assurance that there is sufficient staffing capacity and capability to deliver safe, high-quality care to our patients.
National guidance from the National Quality Board sets out what NHS providers must do to ensure safe staffing levels. This is supported by evidence-based guidance from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, which informs safe and effective staffing decisions.
The Care Quality Commission has also issued guidance following the"Hard Truths" commitments on staffing capacity and capability.
All NHS Trusts are required to follow this guidance and regularly review their staffing levels.
BCHC is currently reviewing how we will publish our safe staffing data to ensure it is clear, accessible, and meaningful for patients and the public.
