What is the Birmingham Forward Steps (BFS) offer?
Early Years Workers offer advice and strategies to support parents and carers in relation to a child or young person's communication needs, this can be 1 to 1 or via groups that will be delivered in Family Hubs, for instance 'Little Talkers.'
The offer has been enhanced as a result of the funded Best Start in Life Home Learning Environment Offer for Family Hubs and includes access to:
- Easy Peasy app,
- REAL,
- 50 things to do before your child is 5,
- NSPCC Lets Talk Sing and Play.
BCHC Speech and Language Therapy Advice Line
You can contact the Speech and language Therapy Team for therapy advice, strategies and support for parents and carers, schools and other professionals in relation to a child's or young person's communication skills or eating, drinking and swallowing concerns. The phone line will be open Monday to Friday, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
The child or young person must be:
- Aged 0 to 18 years (up to 19, only if in full-time special school education)
- Registered with a Birmingham GP or attending a Birmingham School
- Supporting language development through play (video)
