SEND Occupational Therapy supports children and young people to improve their confidence in daily activities and build independence skills in early years settings. Support is FREE to private, voluntary, independent (PVI) settings, childminders, Local Authority nursery schools, mainstream primary and secondary schools within Birmingham.
Every mainstream education setting can access 30-minute virtual Occupational Therapy (OT) advice meetings. School can discuss their concerns regarding a general topic or a specific query about a child/young person in their setting with a SEND Occupational Therapist.
Schools are permitted one meeting per half term, hosted virtually and led by your locality SEND Occupational Therapist. The following people can attend: SENCo, teaching staff and parents/carers.
SEND Occupational Therapy can provide universal advice and strategies to support your setting. Common topics include toileting, dressing, pre-writing skills and feeding.
School will be required to fill out a meeting template before the booked session, which will help guide the discussion and can only be requested by the school.
School can request a meeting by emailing bchc.sendtherapy@nhs.net
