C-SENSE Environmental Checklist

Paediatric occupational therapists support children and young people to carry out activities they need, want, or are expected to do, but are prevented from doing due to impairments, injuries or developmental conditions.

The C-SENSE is a checklist that can be used to evaluate the whole school environment from the perspective of children/young people with sensory processing differences. The checklist can be used a prompt to think about the factors that can contribute to sensory overload and identify any potential short- and long-term changes that could reduce those stress factors for the whole school.

A SEND Occupational Therapist will visit your setting to evaluate the environment and provide recommendations to adapt the environment to be more sensory friendly.
